The MS recording method combines a unidirectional, centred microphone for the direct sound of the sound source with a microphone with a figure-of-eight characteristic to capture the side sound on the left and right. By raising or lowering the side microphone level, you can control the width of the stereo image, giving you unprecedented flexibility in your recordings. If you also record in RAW format, you have the option of influencing the stereo width even after the actual recording.
