Intense, dark and menacing – the Jim Root Jazzmaster is undoubtedly the most minimalist version to have emerged in the model’s entire fifty-year history. At the behest of the towering guitarist from Slipknot and Stone Sour, the two-channel circuits and rows of controls have been removed. The fret markers and the massive chrome bridge are also a thing of the past. To be honest, pretty much everything that defines a typical Jazzmaster guitar has gone. Instead, it features formidable EMG ® humbuckers (neck 60, bridge 81) with brushed nickel covers, a 3-way switch, a single volume control and a Stratocaster-®-style hardtail bridge. The Jim Root Jazzmaster also features a mahogany body with a comfortably shaped neck joint, a matt-finished maple neck with a modern C-profile and a large headstock, and an ebony fingerboard with a compound radius (12"–16"), 22 jumbo frets and – crucially – no fret markers. The locking tuners are offset. The hardware and pickup frames are finished in black to match the matt black nitro finish in Flat Black. The guitar also comes with a black tweed case with a red lining, a strap and strap locks, a cable and a polishing cloth.
The combination of a heavy bottom cymbal and a light top cymbal, together with the small size, produces a high sound for fast accents. Perfect for keeping precise time in musically dense environments.
