Who we are
Rock Shop is a division of fein.media GmbH, based in Karlsruhe. What began in 1982 as a classic music shop is today one of the best-known music retailers in the German-speaking world.
Our range spans guitars, basses and drums, keyboards, wind instruments and recording equipment through to DJ gear, lighting, PA systems and professional event technology.
Around 40 people make up the Rock Shop team. Many of them come from the music scene themselves: they play in bands, work in the studio, look after events or know live production first-hand. That hands-on background is what makes our advice not just technically sound, but workable in practice.
From Nelkenstraße to Sandfeld
In 1982 Gerd Gruß and Rudi Metzler opened a small music shop at Nelkenstraße 1 in Karlsruhe. A newspaper ad, a telephone and fair prices for professional equipment were enough back then to lay the foundation for today’s Rock Shop.
More than 40 years later it has grown into a large music store at Sandfeld 21. The name has stayed, the range has grown and the ambition is unchanged: good products, honest advice and solutions that fit the people working with them.

Repair shop and servicing
Guitars, basses, electronics and wind instruments need experience, care and the right expertise. We run our own workshops and also work with selected specialist service partners – whether it is a setup, maintenance, a repair or a full overhaul.
Party rentals
For private celebrations, corporate functions and larger events we rent out the right equipment: sound systems, DJ gear, lighting and further event equipment. Sound packages start at €75 per day.
Used instruments
Rock Shop regularly stocks used instruments and selected second-hand equipment. If you are after a good instrument at a fair price, there are always interesting one-offs to be found.

By car: via Linkenheimer Landstraße, continuing along Willy-Brandt-Allee, exit BNN.
By bus: line 73 from Europaplatz to the “Am Hubengut” stop.
By tram: line 3 to the “Neureut-Heide” terminus. From there it is roughly a five-minute walk along Alte Bahnlinie.
