The headphones have been uncompromisingly developed to meet the highest demands in terms of sound and reliability. Its incorruptibly neutral reproduction and well thought-out design down to the last detail guarantee optimum working conditions wherever the K872 is used, and the closed design effectively dampens the influence of external sound sources. Ergonomically shaped, self-adjusting pads surround the ears and guarantee a comfortable climate even during long listening sessions. The ingenious, cardanic suspension of the ear cups and the intelligent headband design guarantee a secure fit and first-class wearing comfort, while the air-permeable open-mesh headband can be easily adjusted to the individual head shape. A three metre long, single-sided supply line with high-purity copper cables ensures sufficient freedom of movement in any situation. The cable can be conveniently connected to and removed from the headphones via a professional Lemo connection.

The AKG K872 is technically groundbreaking. The high-tech transducer is driven by neodymium magnets with a field strength of 1.5 Tesla. This enormously concentrated power allows for unprecedented precision and low distortion. An extremely light, double-layered voice coil ensures perfect control of the cone movement and guarantees first-class impulse behaviour. The innovative shape of the 53-millimetre compound cone is the result of countless series of measurements and test set-ups and enables the enormous bandwidth of 5 hertz to 54 kilohertz. The higher the bandwidth, the more pristine the reproduction in the actually audible range.

Mechanically, the AKG K872 is ideally equipped for tough everyday use on stage and in the studio. Audiophiles who like to enjoy music on the go will also benefit from the exquisite manufacturing quality. Key elements are made of metal and can be easily replaced when servicing is required. When travelling, a high-quality carrying case reliably protects the headphones from knocks and can also be used as a stand.
