Equipped with the same ESS Sabre32 Ultra DAC technology found, for example, in the high-quality MOTU AVB audio interfaces, the M2 delivers an astonishing dynamic range of 120 dB at its main outputs.
This is made possible by the high-quality ESS converters, which are also used in the headphone output. Crystal-clear preamps produce a measured value of -129 dBu ON at the microphone inputs. You’ll struggle to find better sound in this price range. The M2 offers latency-free monitoring of the live inputs (microphone, guitar or line signals). MOTU’s ultra-fast USB driver enables a round-trip latency of 2.5 ms (32-sample buffer at 96 kHz). When recording and mixing, nothing is more critical than achieving optimal levels. The M2 is the only audio interface in its class to feature a 160 x 120-pixel colour LCD display with clear, detailed level meters for all inputs and outputs. You won’t find a better or more accurate level display.
The M2 driver offers loopback channels for your host computer, allowing you to send the overall mix back to the computer via the audio outputs. This enables you to stream computer audio in a mix with live microphones and/or guitar inputs, for example on YouTube or a podcast platform. Streaming and podcasting have never been easier or better! With a standard USB-C power supply, the M4 can be used as a standalone preamp and basic mixer without the need for a host computer. Simply activate the monitor button for each input (and, if required, the 48V phantom power) and adjust the pre-amp gain as needed. Connect the main outputs to any device with a line input, such as active speakers or a mixing desk.
