The MAYBACH® Capitol was modelled on what we consider to be the best year of manufacture, 1959, to pay homage to the archtop classic. The guitar with its flat, hollow body, arched top, F-shaped sound holes, two cutaways and two humbuckers produces the warm, wooden sound that jazz and blues musicians discovered for their art from the very beginning.
But it was Eric Clapton who, during his time with Cream, showed that a ripped amp can turn a showpiece brush into a rock spoon. Noel Gallagher from Oasis and a number of indie bands also celebrate their music with the charming, powerful guitar sound of the 1960s. Of course, the sound spectrum of this guitar model cannot be pinned down to this decade and the styles mentioned. The guitar is simply too versatile for that and the musicians are too keen to experiment.
Pickup freak Wolfgang Damm had the right nose again here, as the wooden sound of his Spirit of 59 amber pickups was enthusiastically waved through by the tone freaks on the MAYBACH jury with an all thumbs up right from the first test.
The MAYBACH® Capitols are also finished exclusively with nitro lacquer.
Tip: Set the toggle switch to the centre position. Set the bridge volume to 10 and explore the wonderful (woody) sounds with the neck volume between 3-8.
