16 input channels with level, pan, cut and cue controls. The control range of the pre-amplification extends over 15dB for signals with -10dBv and +4dBu. The mix bus is based on the classic Neve amplifier circuit. The outputs of this device have also been designed for -10dBv and +4dBu, and switchable insert points are also available in the master sum. You can use both a fixed insert send return and an adjustable insert send return.
In addition, the mixer has special M/S encoding and M/S decoding after the insert send return to enable separate dynamic processing of the mid and side signals in the sum. This function is otherwise only known from the mastering sector. All settings can be saved on a PC or Mac using the Total Recall Automation software supplied. As an option, the 8816 can be equipped with a high-quality A/D converter for the sum signal, whereby all standards up to 192 kHz can be used.
