The enhanced Piano Room function now includes the world-class Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial grand pianos as well as several vintage electric pianos. In "Session" mode, you can invite three virtual musicians to "jam" with you in one of 40 different musical styles. Thanks to the new Dynamics Control function, the virtual session musicians automatically follow your harmonies and volume. Depending on your musical preferences, you can activate or deactivate each of the virtual musicians individually. In this special music studio, you can record your sessions at the touch of a button.

The CVP-701 features hundreds of high-quality instrument sounds, including the "Natural!", "Sweet!" and "Cool!" voices, which have been individually sampled to reproduce their acoustic counterparts as faithfully as possible. Yamaha's Super Articulation Voices enrich your playing with authentic sound characteristics of acoustic musical instruments that sound as if they were produced by a real instrumentalist rather than a piano keyboard. These include "fingerboard noises", the "tapping" against the guitar body or even "breathing noises" and glissandi from wind instruments. By simply varying your touch and playing techniques or using the pedals, the Super Articulation Voices give your piano playing even more authenticity.

The accompaniment styles add a suitable virtual backing band to your playing in various musical genres. From small jazz combos to full orchestras: you control which chords and harmonies your accompaniment ensemble plays with what you play and also regulate the volume of the accompaniment. Professional session musicians around the world have developed these accompaniment styles, which add authentic studio-quality accompaniment to your playing, even when you're playing all by yourself. You can use the accompaniment styles to enrich your playing with intros, endings and fill-ins, or for spontaneous song arrangements in real time.
