The Universal Audio SP-1 (SP=Standart Pencil) is a matched stereo pair of small diaphragm condenser microphones with which the usual stereo methods such as XY, ORTF, AB, etc. can be realised cleanly. The microphones each have a cardioid polar pattern, can handle quite high sound levels and deliver a soft, clear top end.
Acoustic guitars, drum overheads, percussion, brass, strings and more can be accurately recorded both live and in the studio. If you are a user of a Universal Audio Apollo interface, you can create professional sounds with the Custom Apollo SP-1 presets without much tweaking.
Universal Audio's free Hemisphere plug-in for UAD and Apollo Realtime transforms the Standard Series microphones into modelling microphones with access to proven but very expensive classic studio microphones.
