Truetone Pure Tone Buffer

Dedicated buffer for Truetone pedals

prevents sound loss caused by long cable runs and multiple pedals

Origin: Originally built in 1997 for guitarist Neil Zaza

Input impedance: 1 MΩ

Output impedance: 50 Ω

Power supply: 9 V DC · centre negative

Dimensions: 63 × 60 × 30 mm

The Pure Tone Buffer was developed in 1997 for guitarist Neil Zaza under the name ‘The Black Box… Top Secret Tone Purifier’ and solves a problem that most guitarists don’t even realise they have: signal degradation caused by the capacitance of cables and the load effect of multiple effects pedals. Plug it in as the first link in your signal chain, and your guitar will sound as direct and lively as if it were connected via a short cable plugged straight into an amplifier – regardless of how many pedals and how much cable follow. The same buffer circuit has been incorporated into every Truetone pedal ever manufactured. This is precisely that circuit, on its own, housed in its own casing.
