Telefunken M81 Universal Dynamic

The M-81 is the latest addition to the TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik family of dynamic microphones. The microphone was designed not only to complement the M80 (TELEFUNKEN Elektroakustik's first dynamic microphone), but also to stand out from the crowd of other dynamic microphones on offer.

Since the M80 was first introduced in 2008, it has quickly become a "bestseller" in both live and studio applications. With its clear and detailed sound in the treble range, articulate midrange and minimal proximity effect, the microphone has won the hearts (and especially the ears) of thousands of new users, becoming the microphone of choice for vocal and drum applications in particular and is now the best-known microphone in the TELEFUNKEN product line.

Based on the outstanding characteristics of the M80, the TELEFUNKEN M81 also has the same minimal proximity effect, superior feedback shielding and a very clear and distinct mid-range. In the upper treble range, the response of the M81 has been slightly reduced so that the microphone has a smoother and more even frequency response. As a result, with the M81 you get a microphone with a clear and smooth sound that is ideal for brighter vocals and guitars, percussion and brass.

The customised frequency response of the TELEFUNKEN M81 also makes this microphone an excellent choice for electric guitars, percussion, drum toms and brass instruments. The wide application range and the stable and reliable design make it the workhorse for a whole new generation.

With the same tube body finish and chrome capsule protector as the R-F-T AR-51, the M81 is instantly recognisable. Much of the design of the M81 is based on the AR-51. Great care was taken in tuning the M81 to make it comparable to the AR-51, especially when recording electric guitars.
