according to Spectrasonics, the work on Keyscape took 10 years. A large partof the time was certainly taken up by creating the sample content. This is because 36 grand pianos, upright pianos, electric pianos, clavinets, upright pianos, toy pianos and synthesisers of all kinds from all over the world were recorded for Keyscape. These include some very old and rare instruments, which were first painstakingly restored before being recorded for Keyscape.

Spectrasonics is known for its elaborate and high-quality sample sounds. The same standards have certainly been applied to Keyscape. The content amounts to 77 GB, from which more than 500 sounds are created. The multisamples work with up to 32-fold velocity and round robins. Sounds from mechanics, pedals and key release are also integrated.

Spectrasonics has deliberately refrained from removing the imperfections of certain instruments from the recordings, instead leaving everything as it is for the sake of authenticity.

But as you would expect, Keyscape is not just a piano library. The steam engine familiar from Omnisphere and Trilian is also the basis for the instrument here and enables typical piano interventions in the sound, such as: Microphoning, timbre, harmonics, effects and amps for electric pianos etc. However, these functions also allow the sounds to be heavily altered, going far beyond the possibilities of the originals.

Two sounds can be combined in Hybrid Duo mode. Like Trilian, the library can be integrated into Omnisphere, where it can be edited and combined with the sounds there using all the options, which is particularly interesting since Update 2.

Spectrasonics Keyscape itself does not support 32-bit systems, but can be operated in 32-bit when integrated via Omnisphere.
