Amount/share oscillator 2

Amount/share white noise

Low-pass filter:

Four-pole, resonant low-pass filter per voice

Switchable between authentic versions of the Prophet-5 Rev1/2 and Prophet-5 Rev3 filters

The Rev1/2 filter is a 2140 filter developed by Dave Rossum - the modern counterpart to the original 2040 filter found in the Prophet-5 Rev1 and Rev2 models.

The Rev3 filter utilises the CEM 3320 designed by Doug Curtis

The filter can be set to self-oscillate using the resonance control

Keyboard tracking: off, half intensity, full intensity

Filter envelope:

Four-stage envelope generator (ADSR)

Modulation of the envelope intensity via the velocity response

Volume envelope:

Four-stage envelope generator (ADSR)

Modulation of the envelope intensity via the velocity response

LFO:

Three waveforms: Sawtooth, triangle, square. All waveforms can be activated simultaneously

Initial modulation intensity and modulation wheel

Modulation targets: Frequency of oscillator A and B, pulse width of oscillator A and B, filter input frequency

Poly Mod:

Sources: Filter envelope and oscillator B

Targets: Frequency and pulse width of oscillator A, filter onset frequency

Vintage control:

Recreates the characteristics of the different Prophet 5 models by varying the oscillators, envelopes, amplifiers and other parameters. This allows you to move from a very stable 4, as in the Prophet-5 Rev4, the new version, to a 1, which is based on the Prophet-5 Rev1, the rarest and most temperamental of all Prophet-5 models.

Aftertouch:

Channel aftertouch (mono)

Destinations: Filter input frequency, LFO amount/proportion

Performance filter:

Full-format, lightly weighted 5-octave premium keyboard from Fatar with velocity response and aftertouch

Modulation wheel

Pitch wheel with centring spring and selectable range per programme (1 to 12 semitones up and down)

Polyphonic glide (portamento)

Unison mode (monophonic) with configurable number of voices, from one to all five voices, and several modes for voice distribution

Preset button: When switched off, the control panel is active. Here you can hear the exact sound of the current settings of the control elements.

Programme memory:

200 user and 200 factory sounds in five banks with 40 programmes each

Direct programme access, including one-button access to the current set of eight programmes as on the original Prophet-5

Connections:

Mono output (1 x 6.35 mm jack socket)

Headphone output (6.35 mm stereo jack)

MIDI connections: In, Out, Thru

USB port for bidirectional MIDI communication

Control voltage input and output (1 x 6.35 mm jack socket), 0 to +5 volt input and output signal. Configured for operation with 1 volt per octave.

Gate input and output (1 x 6.35 mm jack socket). Accepts on/off signals between 1.5 and 15 volts to trigger the envelopes of a single voice in the Prophet-5. Outputs a 15 volt on/off signal to trigger the envelopes of external synthesisers.

Expression pedal input for controlling the filter frequency of the low-pass filter

Expression pedal input for volume control

Sustain pedal/foot switch input

Power supply:

IEC AC input for the internal power supply unit

Can be operated worldwide with voltages from 100 to 240 volts at 50 to 60 Hz; Prophet-5: Maximum power consumption 20 watts.

Moog Subharmonicon
Manufacturer: Moog
The Moog Subharmonicon is a versatile analogue labyrinth of subharmonically derived synthesis and polyrhythm patterns, equally suited to losing yourself and finding yourself through sound. This new semi-modular analogue synthesizer is designed for the exploration of sequences that unfold and evolve over time, spiralling through six-note subharmonic chords and organic polyrhythms.Subharmonicon is the latest addition to Moog's family of semi-modular analogue synthesizers (Matriarch, Grandmother, Mother-32 and DFAM). Subharmonicon is capable of creating complex sounds and patterns, yet is incredibly easy to use. With two VCOs, four subharmonic oscillators, two 4-stage sequencers and four rhythm generators, this new music machine creates a rich harmonic kaleidoscope that splits in on itself until everything above becomes below. Although no patches are required to start generating, Subharmonicon can be patched into itself to expand its on-board capabilities, or connected to Mother-32, DFAM and other external Eurorack-compatible devices for infinite possibilities.Deeper understanding (The past influences the future)For the design of Subharmonicon, Moog was inspired by radical theories of music composition that emerged in experimental circles in the 1930s and 1940s. Inspired by Joseph Schillinger's mathematical systems for music composition, Subharmonicon is influenced by two analogue innovations from the 1930s and 1940s: the Mixtur Trautonium, which used a series of subharmonic oscillators to create electronic undertones, and the Rhythmicon (developed by Leon Theremin, the inventor of the Theremin), an instrument capable of making several harmonically related polyrhythm generators sound simultaneously. Find out more about these historic instruments and how the past continues to shape the future of sound.
