The upgrade for your DSLR sound!
The MKE 440 consists of two connected, tuned mini-shotgun microphones. This means it captures exactly the sound you want. The stainless steel micro-mesh windscreen reduces wind noise without losing the fine high frequencies. The MKE 440 delivers a balanced stereo sound image and amplifies the sound source in the focus of the camera. A new, patented V-shaped arrangement of two directional microphones - this is Sennheiser's great solution for stereo recording with microphones connected to the camera's hot shoe. This configuration acoustically captures the same area that is captured by a 35 mm camera lens. The sensitivity is very uniform across the entire range, with particularly high speech intelligibility in the image focus.
Directional microphones are not usually used for recording stereo sound, which requires two microphones. As a result, many stereo videos sound less present and somewhat reverberant, with many interfering noises from sources outside the image being captured unattenuated. Directional microphones are not usually used for recording stereo sound, which requires two microphones. As a result, many stereo videos sound less present and somewhat reverberant, with a lot of noise from sources outside the picture being captured without attenuation. Our solution is a new, patented V-shaped arrangement of two directional microphones. This configuration acoustically captures the same area that is captured by a 35mm camera lens. The sensitivity is very uniform over the entire range, with particularly high speech intelligibility in the image focus.
Microphones are generally susceptible to structure-borne noise, for example when the camera on which they are mounted is moved. This is why the MKE 440 is equipped with a specially developed, patented suspension system. It is precisely matched to the length and weight of the directional microphones and ensures optimum protection against structure-borne noise. The rubber elements of the suspension are attached to the inside of the protective micro-mesh. A fine, very stable and resistant stainless steel mesh protects the microphones and reduces wind noise. Unlike a normal foam windscreen, it does not affect the clarity of the high frequency range. In this way, the sound image remains unchanged. It also protects against electromagnetic interference.
The integrated, battery-powered dynamic circuit adapts the output signal of the MKE 440 to the sensitivity of the camera's audio input. In this way, the MKE 440 masters a dynamic range from the softest whisper to roaring loud rock music. The low-cut filter reduces both structure-borne noise and low-frequency wind noise. The MKE 440 offers an extra-long operating time of more than 100 hours with a pair of AAA batteries, whereby it still delivers its full sound performance even when the battery is low.
