The new sE8 is a high-quality small diaphragm microphone with outstanding sound characteristics. The elaborately manufactured electrode enables a very balanced and particularly natural transmission of instruments of all kinds. This also allows the intensive use of EQs or filters without making the recording unpleasant. With the highest dynamic range and the highest overload resistance in its class as well as the practical, switchable attenuation and high-pass filters, the sE8 offers unbeatable flexibility for every application in the studio and on stage.

Handmade small diaphragm capsule:

Each capsule is handcrafted and customised in the sE factory with great attention to detail. The wafer-thin, gold-vapour-plated diaphragm offers impressive transient reproduction and captures even the smallest details. The precision-crafted electrode has been optimised for maximum linearity and natural reproduction, resulting in a very smooth, balanced frequency response.

Precise, direction-independent polar pattern:

Thanks to the sophisticated acoustic design with precision parts, the directional characteristic is largely independent of direction. This prevents sound colouration, especially in demanding recordings.

The lowest-noise small diaphragm microphone in its class:

The extremely short signal path, the discrete components and the optimised Class A circuitry make the sE8 one of the lowest-noise microphones on the market - and by far the quietest microphone in its class. The outstanding transparency, the enormous dynamic range and the very low distortion are due to an innovative circuit concept with a transformerless output stage.

Attenuation filter with two stages:

High flexibility and an extended dynamic range are achieved by the attenuation filter. The two stages prevent clipping of the electronics and the connected microphone preamp or audio interface right at the start of the signal chain. This means that even very loud instruments such as brass instruments and snares can be miked without any problems, even in the near field.

Two-stage high-pass filter:

The integrated high-pass filter can be switched between 80Hz and 160Hz to attenuate unwanted rumble and footstep noises as well as the bass boost caused by near-field miking (proximity effect).

Robust metal housing and high-quality surfaces:

The sophisticated design is particularly durable and effectively shields the electronics from electromagnetic interference.

Gold-plated XLR plug:

The corrosion-free contacts enable loss-free and reliable transmission for many years.
