The BL8 is a semi-cardioid boundary microphone that uses the same capsule as the famous sE8 small diaphragm condenser microphone. Its handcrafted condenser capsule uses an ultra-thin, three micron, gold-plated diaphragm for excellent transient response. Designed to reproduce low frequencies with amazing accuracy, the BL8 is perfect for pairing with the V Kick, but can also be used on its own without an additional kick drum mic. It is also compatible with the Kelly Shu Flatz Isolation System, making it ideal for touring applications.
The BL8 utilises a Class A transformerless circuit that provides ample headroom without distortion and low-noise electronics for transparency and clarity. The integrated low-cut filter and optional EQ shaping switch make it a very versatile microphone that is ideal for ambient recordings and detailed room miking and can even be used for miking pianos. Thanks to the switchable attenuator, the BL8 prevents sources with high sound pressure levels from overloading the input of your mixing console.
The BL8 is robustly built with an all-metal construction, deformation-resistant grille and gold-plated XLR contacts to ensure long-term reliability.

The BL8 uses the same capsule as the famous sE8 small diaphragm condenser microphone and features a handmade condenser capsule with an ultra-thin, gold-plated 3-micron diaphragm for excellent transient response.

The ideal studio kick drum sound often differs from our preferences in a live sound environment. Similar to the award-winning V Kick kick drum microphone, the BL8 offers "Classic" and "Modern" voicings. These options cut and model the low mids to emphasise transients and punch. In the centre position, the neutral frequency response of the capsule is maintained, which is ideal for a variety of other applications.
