Explore the inspiring built-in sounds and patterns, or create your own favourites. Import your own sounds and loops in sync with the tempo of your performance and develop a distinctive style. What’s more, the MC-101’s hands-on controllers provide you with precise performance tools to trigger clips and dynamically shape your sounds.

A production studio that fits in your pocket:

The MC-101 is a professional production tool based on the sounds and capabilities of its big brother, the MC-707. What’s more, its compact design offers numerous advantages. The MC-101 is lightweight, robust and can be used on the go for up to five hours on just four AA batteries. This means you can create your sounds, develop drum patterns and compose music wherever you like. Yet the groove box is far more than just a simple scratch pad for your ideas. Produce professional tracks and create complete backing tracks and accompaniments for your live performances.

A creative spark ignites a fire:

The MC-101 features a 4-track sequencer optimised for modern electronic and dance-focused music styles. Use the 16 RGB pads to generate drum, bass and synthesiser patterns and produce your own music. Explore a vast musical playground and combine loops and one-shot samples with melodic phrases, as well as your own MIDI sequences and imported audio recordings. Compose and trigger clips, arrange and sample clips in new, creative ways, record your automations and more.

A mobile studio packed with vintage gear:

The MC-101’s built-in Roland sounds have had a decisive influence on numerous genres of electronic music for more than 40 years. The collection includes legendary instruments such as the TR-808, TR-909, the JUNO-106 and the SH-101. The choice is yours: work with the classics or combine them creatively to produce completely new sounds.

Expandable sounds, patterns and phrases:

Create your compositions based on a carefully curated collection of built-in beats, phrases and sounds – created by renowned artists and sound designers. Furthermore, the MC-101 is part of an expandable platform. This allows you to expand your groovebox with additional content to explore new genres and styles.

Your own audio files, perfectly synchronised at all times:

Each track features a powerful sample player, allowing you to import your own sounds. Use your own voice or the sound of your favourite software instrument. The imported audio files can be automatically synchronised with the MC-101’s tempo or edited using the wide range of built-in effects and hands-on controllers.

Produce tracks for streaming and live performances:

Thanks to the MC-101’s wide range of professional effects, your productions will benefit from a polished and refined sound. Each track features a dedicated effects processor with extensive capabilities. Use a rich chorus to add depth to your pads and synth sounds. Delays and reverbs create vibrant spaces and add movement to key sequences. Enrich synths, guitars, drums and other instruments with effects such as overdrive, distortion or an amp simulation to add an extra touch of warmth and character. You can also send your entire mix through various master effects such as filters and bit crushers, or use a master bus compressor to tie all the elements together and make the mix even more assertive.

Share your productions with the world. All you need is a single cable:

Connect your MC-101 to your computer via a single USB cable to edit your tracks in even greater detail or share your productions with friends and fans. Use the MC-101 as a USB audio interface and transfer your composition to your DAW as a complete mix or as four individual tracks. What’s more, you can sample sounds from your DAW to use backing tracks, stems or a specific sound from your favourite synthesiser in your next live performance.
