The Radial J48 Stereo™ is a two-channel version of the popular J48 – an active direct box used by artists as diverse as Paul McCartney, Neil Young and Jean Luc Ponty. It features a unique internal switching power supply that converts the phantom power to provide greater headroom and lower distortion, resulting in a warm, harmonious sound often associated with studio preamps that cost many times as much. The switching power supply also allows the audio ground to be isolated, eliminating hum and buzz caused by ground loops without interrupting the phantom power. This eliminates the need for an external power supply or the use of batteries, which are not ideal. Features include In/Thru outputs, an 80 Hz high-pass filter and 180° polarity reversal on channel 2 for phase alignment of stereo sources or to prevent feedback.
