The Velvet Deluxe is a redesign of the Velvet Custom, which is manufactured in Japan. The original idea was to offer a 24 3/4″ set-neck guitar that was lightweight and fitted with pickups specifically designed to produce superb clean and overdrive sounds.
The body is made from African mahogany and features a arched top. The neck is made from African mahogany and features a rosewood fingerboard adorned with Magneto Rhombus inlays. A bone nut ensures excellent string response. The Velvet’s headstock is set at a 14° angle and fitted with Grover tuners. The transition from the neck to the body has been shaped to ensure optimal access to the higher frets.
The Velvet Deluxe has been developed for a broader tonal range: rich and focused mids when played with drive, but with enough treble and ‘quack’ to produce classic clean tones.
The new Magneto® Metro Pole MAC-5 humbuckers are wound around Alnico 5 magnets and offer rich overtones with tight and precise bass response. They are controlled via a 3-way switch, a master tone control and a master volume control.
