One of the main reasons why Ludwig is regarded as ‘the most famous name in the drumming world’ is the legendary Black Beauty snare drum. The drum is made from a single sheet of brass, which is machine-drawn into a seamless, corrugated shell. However, due to its truly unique and labour-intensive manufacturing process, only a very limited number of Black Beauties are available from Ludwig USA each year.
A true American original, the Black Beauty offers a warm, round, metallic sound that is often imitated but never equalled.”
