The iConnectivity PlayAUDIO2D combines audio, MIDI and Dante in a 19-inch interface designed for touring, with a height of two units. It offers the same range of functions as its sister model, the PlayAUDIO2U, and extends this with digital audio inputs and outputs via Dante.

Two USB-C ports allow for the connection of redundant show computers. Analogue audio connections, extensive MIDI interfaces, RTP-MIDI and Dante support the playback of backing tracks and virtual instruments, the processing of incoming audio signals, and networking on stage and throughout the venue.

Dante with 8 inputs and 32 outputs

Using the Dante network protocol, the PlayAUDIO2D can transmit up to 32 audio channels directly to compatible mixing desks and other devices on the network. At the same time, the PlayAUDIO2D receives up to eight Dante input channels and routes these via USB to the connected computers for further processing. In this way, the interface connects the Dante network to the show computers.

24 analogue XLR outputs and 32 Dante outputs

The PlayAUDIO2D features 24 balanced XLR outputs. All 24 analogue output channels are automatically mirrored to the Dante outputs. Eight additional Dante output channels bring the total to 32 output channels at sampling rates of up to 96 kHz.

The computers are connected via USB-C. The robust rack-mount enclosure, extensive connectivity options and high-quality audio conversion are designed for use in professional live set-ups.

Analogue inputs for vocals and instruments

Four XLR/6.3 mm TRS combo sockets with low-noise microphone preamps and 48 V phantom power capture vocals and instruments with a wide dynamic range and neutral sound reproduction. The input signals can be routed to the redundant show computers for processing.

OLED display for monitoring and setup

The large OLED display shows MIDI activity, audio levels and system status in real time. Warning messages provide immediate notification of computer failures or other issues. The clear display makes it easier to set up the system and troubleshoot during live performances.

Centralised MIDI control for the live setup

The PlayAUDIO2D consolidates MIDI connections and control functions into a single central interface. Integrated DIN MIDI sockets, four USB MIDI host ports, the connected computers and two Ethernet ports with RTP MIDI enable the networking of controllers, sound generators and other devices across the entire stage and venue.

Four freely assignable buttons on the front panel and programmable connections for footswitches can trigger MIDI commands, control interface functions and send control commands to compatible devices. The flexible MIDI routing determines which data is transmitted to which devices at what time.

MIDI processing allows, for example, MIDI data to be passed on to connected computers, whilst external devices receive only a set of programme change commands. In the event of a computer failure, All-Notes-Off commands can prevent notes from hanging. Unwanted controller data can be specifically filtered out.

Redundancy for live performance

iConnectivity’s multi-computer redundancy monitors audio signals or MIDI data and automatically switches to the other connected computer in the event of a fault. The switchover is so rapid that it is virtually inaudible. Manual switching between the computers is also available.

Audio Protection against interference

As well as software errors, the PlayAUDIO2D monitors the audio streams for potential interference. If problems are detected, the interface can automatically switch to a safety mode, mute the outputs and display diagnostic information on the screen. This is designed to prevent unwanted noise or faulty audio signals from reaching the PA or monitor system.

Operation via the unit and with Auracle

Buttons and rotary encoders allow direct control of key functions on the front panel without the need for additional software. The Auracle software is available for custom configuration. Key functions of the interface can also be controlled via MIDI Learn using external MIDI devices.
