With the Ibanez GIO GSR180 Black, the traditional Japanese company once again proves that it is also ahead of the game in the entry-level segment with high-quality and excellent-sounding electric basses. In addition to the mahogany body in a chic soundgear design, the 4-string electric bass features a smoothly playable maple neck and two Ibanez Dynamix J single coils for a versatile sound spectrum.
High playing comfort and classic construction
Like all instruments in the Ibanez GIO series, the Ibanez GSR 180 also has the proven high manufacturing quality for long-lasting playing pleasure. With mahogany for the body and maple for the bolt-on neck, a traditional wood combination is used, while the extra slim GSR4 profile sits comfortably in the hand and allows even beginners to play electric bass without fatigue. Classic dot inlays mark the positions so that everyone can find their way between the 22 frets of the rosewood fingerboard.
Versatile sound thanks to Dynamix single coils
No matter which direction the musical journey with the Ibanez GSR 180 Black takes, with its two Ibanez Dynamix J single coil pickups and straightforward passive circuitry, it always delivers the right bass sound. The signals from both pickups can be mixed together using the two volume controls, providing a wide range of different sound colours. The spectrum ranges from the dry, assertive wire sound of the bridge pickup to the abysmal yet transparent low bass boost of the centre pickup, which is given additional variability by the passive treble control.
High-quality hardware
The Ibanez GIO GSR 180 Black also impresses with its high-quality hardware equipment, whose unrestricted functionality guarantees long-lasting playing pleasure. At the bridge, the strings are held by the Ibanez B10 bridge, which guarantees perfect adjustment of intonation and string action thanks to four adjustable string saddles. From there, the strings run with a 34 scale length (864 mm) towards the headstock, where they are held by precise die-cast tuners that hold the tuning securely for a long time.
