The GENELEC 8040BPM is ideal for nearfield monitoring, broadcast and TV applications, OB vans, home studios and surround setups in confined spaces. The MDE (Minimum Diffraction Enclosure) aluminium cabinet with its rounded edges improves frequency and dispersion characteristics. Minimising sound diffraction ensures excellent imaging. The pioneering DCW sound guide has been further optimised to ensure precisely defined dispersion characteristics. The result is a wider, more uniform listening zone with reduced sound colouration caused by early room reflections. The flow-optimised bass reflex tunnel enables an extended transmission range at low frequencies, high sound pressure reserves and good audibility in the bass range. New low-distortion speaker chassis and sophisticated filter technology smooth the frequency response and optimise reliability. Together with the MDE cabinet, these improvements across the entire audio spectrum result in high sound resolution and reduced listening fatigue. The sturdy cabinet of the 8040B with a silk-matt finish and acoustically optimised metal protective grilles can withstand even heavy use. Secure positioning is achieved by integrated mounting points for floor stands and wall brackets on the rear panel and an additional M10 thread on the bottom of the cabinet. The signal-detecting auto-start function automatically switches the monitor on when an audio signal is present. After one hour without an audio signal, the monitor returns to standby mode. The rubber Iso-Pod stand allows the speaker to be tilted for alignment with the listening position. Its decoupling function prevents sound colouration caused by the transmission of unwanted vibrations to the stand surface. In combination with a GENELEC 7070A-LSE subwoofer, five GENELEC 8040Bs bring liveliness and realism to your surround monitoring. The transmission range extends to below 20 Hz and the reproduction of the surround field is overwhelming.
