RedNet D16R AES is a 1U, 19in rackmount Dante interface with 16 channels with an AES/EBU interface to and from the Dante audio network. RedNet D16R is perfect for connecting digital consoles, mains amplifiers or any other audio equipment to AES2 or any Dante network. The device provides SRC (sample rate conversion) for each input pair, enabling plug-and-play operation with any AES3 source. Word Clock I/O and DARS (Digital Audio Reference Signal) connections allow synchronisation with a wide range of external sources and hardware. At the same time, S/PDIF I/O enables the integration of equipment such as CD or solid-state recorders/players.

Dual interlocking EtherCon Ethernet ports are available with various operating modes including loop-through and redundancy confirmed by front panel indicators. The D16R has two different power connections with fault detection function and separate input sockets (with fixing clips) at the rear. The operating status of the power supply unit is displayed in the software and on the front panel of the device. The device technology is housed in a robust casing, which also ensures safe storage when travelling. The device also impresses with its high-quality interior. On top of this, there is a compact 1U form factor for a whopping 64 input and output channels.

Two DB25 connectors each offer eight channels of combined I/O to the AES59 standard and can be connected to other DB25-connected or XLR-based devices in seconds using standard DB25 to XLR cables. The female XLR input on the rear of the unit can be used either as a DARS sync source for the Dante system or as an AES3 audio source to replace input channels 1-2 on the DB25 connectors.

A male XLR connector provides a dual AES3 output for output channels 1-2, the RCA S/PDIF input can similarly replace input channels 3-4 of the DB25 connectors, while the S/PDIF output can replicate any adjacent odd/even pair of the 16 output channels. The two etherCon network connectors on the rear of the unit offer two modes of operation. They can be used either as a primary/redundant network interface - allowing seamless switching in the event of network failure - or as a loop-through socket for connecting multiple sockets.

The front panel displays device status information such as clock generator, sample rate, primary and secondary network connection and power supply operating status, in addition to signal strength for each of the AES3 pairs.

All clocking, input and output options of the RedNet D16 AES can be customised via the RedNet Control application for Mac and PC.
