The Santa Ana V2 is a JFET-based Class A overdrive pedal with an internal 18V power supply. This design offers a key advantage: it delivers precisely the kind of sensitive response with high-headroom overdrive that musicians seek to elicit from a Fender valve amp when they push it to its limits. At the heart of the effect is a dual-voice circuit with three direct controls and a voice selector switch, which switches your guitar tone from a naturally tight overdrive (A) to a broad, creamy and smooth character (B). The Drive and Tone controls allow for a wide sonic range and precise adjustment of gain and treble presence in the drive signal. The Tight switch on the rear panel cuts a few bass frequencies from the pre-drive signal, making the sound more focused and intense.
The frequency response in overdrive mode can be further refined. An independently switchable 3-band EQ surrounds the Santa Ana V2 drive engine. Active controls for bass, midrange and treble allow for in-depth tone shaping, enabling you to boost or cut each frequency range individually. A tactile mid-range click stop indicates the flat response point. Using the EQ position switch, you can define at which point the EQ should become noticeable – before or after the drive? Pre-Drive EQ enhances the overdrive response by identifying the frequencies that are most heavily overdriven in the drive circuit. Post-Drive EQ sends your guitar signal directly into the drive and shapes the resulting gain tone, producing a more dramatic EQ effect.
A musically tuned JFET drive engine, an independent EQ circuit, conveniently switchable buffered/true bypass, and multi-assignable footswitches (on/off or held down) – the Santa Ana V2 is a flexible overdrive with a virtually infinite range of tone variations.
