The Pugilist V2 is no ordinary distortion pedal. It houses two independent distortion engines within a single unit and produces a whole universe of thick, full-bodied tones. Each engine can be switched on and off individually via a footswitch and has its own controls for gain, tone and level. You can play two different types of distortion: whilst Engine A produces lead-drive sounds with plenty of high-end, Engine B delivers wide sounds with heavy distortion. The real magic of the Pugilist V2, however, lies in the Path selector switch: this allows you to route the two distortion engines through three different signal paths, where they interact with one another and blend into a harmonically rich saturation.
The two serial modes feed one distortion circuit into the next, stacking the drive sounds much like when layering amp channels. You can use the footswitch to activate cascading distortion. In parallel mode, the two engines operate simultaneously side by side and are blended together using the level controls. This creates a perfect blend of articulate, punchy distortion.
Global controls for Mid Cut and Bass Boost, a conveniently switchable buffered/true bypass, and a multi-assignable footswitch (on/off or held down) allow this user-friendly, intuitive distortion pedal to show what it’s capable of – massive distortion with many unusual facets. Fits into any pedalboard.
