The Razornator is a unique stereo effects unit featuring an algorithm developed by the Dutch company 112dB. It features five chromatically tuned resonant delay lines that can replicate the resonance of physical objects – instrument bodies, rooms, structures. The chromatic tuning of the resonant delay lines lends the effect a particularly musical quality, as they can be tuned to each other in chord-like intervals, whilst the integrated envelope follower adds extra dynamics to the processed signal. With 12 parameters for detailed sound design, save and recall functions for all parameters, MIDI control of all parameters and an elegant aluminium casing that fits perfectly with our range of compact desktop units, the Razornator takes your setup to new heights at every live show, in the studio or during sonic experiments.
The Razornator combines several sophisticated and finely tuned ‘modules’ for stereo audio processing, designed to alter the harmonic content of the input signal. The signal path begins with an audio GAIN STAGE that amplifies signals by up to +24 dB (it can effectively function as an analogue overdrive); the signal is then routed through the low-pass FILTER with a RESONANCE control and, following filter processing, passes through five chromatically tuned, DELAY-BASED RESONATORS, which can be tuned manually or controlled via the ENVELOPE FOLLOWER. After the resonators, the signal is summed and limited by the COMPRESSOR, then mixed with the dry signal, passed through the EQUALISER and finally routed to the BALANCED OUTPUT stage.
