The DPA 4063 is acoustically identical to the 4060, but the FET preamplifier in the input stage is designed to work with a lower supply voltage. The core versions of the 4060 series introduce technology that minimises distortion, extends the dynamic range and improves sound quality over the original 4060 series lavaliers.
Originally designed for use with wireless systems in theatre, television and instrument applications with close mics, the 4060 capsule is extremely unobtrusive. Due to their small size, these tiny condensers have an extremely accurate omnidirectional pattern and therefore do not need to be aimed directly at the sound source to achieve a high quality recording.
