Update:
The Bricasti M7 reverb processor and the M10 Remote are now supplied with the new software version V2. An update (EPROM) for M7 devices with V1 will be available free of charge in exchange for the V1 EPROMs (the exchanged EPROMs must be returned). The update can also be carried out at Mega Audio (recommended for M10 Remote) for a service fee of €45 plus shipping.
The new, downward-compatible software offers a variety of new features while retaining the simple operation and control of the V1 functions:
A "Larger than Life" reverb algorithm (V2) with associated new presets
New delay and modulation parameters available in both the V1 and V2 algorithms and presets
An expanded selection of early reverbs, available for V1 and V2 algorithms
New presets for V1 and V2 algorithms plus non-linear presets
Extended MIDI functionality with selective SysEx dumps
Mute and bypass function
The new presets and programme banks:
All original V1 presets remain unchanged from the original release. Additional presets in the banks that are based on the original algorithm and some that also use the new delay parameters are available for V1 and V2.
The V2 presets are presented in a whole series of new banks labelled Halls 2, Rooms 2, Plates 2 and Spaces 2. These presets are based on the new V2 algorithm and have the same parameters as the V1 presets, including delay. M7 users will find their way around very quickly after an upgrade.
A third algorithm is labelled "Non Linear" and is based on the classic AMS RMX 16. This comparatively simple algorithm only uses the parameters Rolloff, Size, Early Select, Early Balance and Early Rolloff.
New V2 algorithm:
The new V2 algorithm is based on some components of the V1 version, so the clarity and airiness, the natural density and the operation are retained. The Early Reverb with the new selection of settings and the VLF (Very Low Frequency) Reverb have been adopted unchanged from V1. The main change compared to V1 is the Late Reverb, which brings a completely new sound with more colouration. Significantly more effect, but without losing the high-resolution, clear density for which the V1 presets are so well known.
The editing parameters and operation remain unchanged under V2, so there is no need for a second familiarisation period after an upgrade. In isolated cases, a parameter change may have a different effect on the sound than usual because the underlying algorithm has changed. The key parameters that have a different character are Modulation, Reverb Rolloff Filter, Diffusion and Density.
Extended MIDI functionality:
Software version 2 brings many new MIDI features such as programme change and selective SysEx dump. Program changes can be assigned to preset programs by bank, user registers and favourites. Furthermore, system settings, user registers and favourites can be exchanged directly between two M7s via MIDI link.
Bricasti Design Ltd., a new company founded by former Lexicon employees Casey Dowdell and Brian Zolner and based in the USA, specialises in the development of reverbs. The Model 7 sets new standards - it combines maximum musicality and ease of use in a processor-controlled reverb unit. The modern and highly qualified design is based on a platform consisting of six DSPs with the latest state-of-the-art technology.
The separate analogue section and the specially developed linear transformer power supply guarantee optimum analogue sound quality.
The exceptionally robust housing is made of stainless steel. The specially crafted aluminium front panel features a classic, easy-to-read display. A small number of switches and pots ensure simple operation and clarity; a well thought-out design for the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Every control and detail of the M7 has been carefully selected and moulded. Recognising the best designs of its predecessors and a passion for advancing the science of reverb, the M7 offers a palette of sounds that clearly eclipse anything that has gone before in quality and expression.
