At the heart of the OC616 lies the CKR12 – Austrian Audio’s handcrafted 1″ true condenser large-diaphragm capsule with an edge-contacted design, based on the legacy of the legendary C12 and consistently refined. Constructed with a ceramic isolator and individually calibrated during manufacture, the CKR12 delivers exceptional consistency, extremely low distortion and a level of detail that makes every nuance of a performance audible. Fast transients, open highs, controlled lows – captured with absolute precision and without any artificial colouration.

Inside a microphone, every surface can get in the way. Reflections hit the diaphragm with a slight delay, creating comb-filter effects that colour the signal. Our Open Acoustics Technology removes these obstacles. The capsule sits as freely as possible; reflective surfaces and contact points are reduced to a minimum, whilst carefully selected diffuser materials control the rest. This allows sound to reach the capsule openly from all sides – for natural detail, clean directional characteristics and reliable rear attenuation with greater protection against feedback on stage.
