Cleaning the interior of musical instruments is absolutely essential. When playing, solids are carried into the instruments along with saliva and accumulate inside them. These deposits also contain corrosive acids which attack the interior of the soprano saxophone. These solids affect the flow behaviour of the vibrating air, as well as the instrument’s natural vibration behaviour, and thus significantly impair sound quality and playability. Removing these substances is therefore physically necessary and essential for the preservation and maintenance of the instruments.
