Alesis Strike Strata Prime E Kit

Strata Prime is an electronic drum kit that makes no compromises. Every detail has been designed to offer the player a responsive and natural playing experience. The full-mesh heads are tension-adjustable; the 360-degree rotating cymbals move freely and respond just like acoustic cymbals, and the hi-hat is laser-precise and plays naturally with any hi-hat stand and technique. Together, they create the expressive feel you would expect from a carefully crafted instrument. Under the hood, however, lies a truly state-of-the-art sound engine that provides an extensive and detailed library of beautifully recorded drum kits.

Drums

Strata Prime features six drums with full-mesh heads. Starting with a dual-zone 14-inch snare drum with independent sounds for the head, rim click and rim shot, followed by 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch and 14-inch toms, and of course a 20-inch kick drum, which offers a comfortable playing surface whilst being suitable for all types of single and double kick pedals. The tension can be adjusted on all six mesh heads, allowing you to fine-tune the rebound and expressiveness exactly to your liking – and unnatural ‘hotspots’ on the heads are eliminated by Alesis’s unique, patented anti-hotspot sensor design*.

Cymbals

The Strata Prime’s ARC cymbals are characterised by exceptional responsiveness and a beautifully twisted surface. All three cymbals – the 18-inch ride and the two 16-inch crashes – are three-piece, so that different sounds are triggered on the bell, edge and rim of each cymbal. They are all 360-degree responsive, so not only can you play anywhere on the cymbal, but they can also be mounted on standard acoustic arm mounts, allowing them to react and vibrate naturally without restriction. The crash and ride cymbals, as well as the hi-hats, feature dual-edge sensors* and profiles that enable incredible expressiveness without you having to adjust your technique.

Hi-hat

The 14-inch hi-hat is the world’s first active magnetic, stand-mounted controller**. Like the cymbals, it features a three-zone, 360-degree playing surface that is extremely sensitive. Magnetic position detection ensures that pedal movements are transmitted with exceptionally high resolution; this means that the contactless controller is unrivalled in its accuracy. The device can be used with a wide variety of hi-hat stands and playing techniques. Its active technology is powered directly by the Prime Drum Module; no additional power supply is required.

Hardware

The backbone of the Strata Prime is a double-braced steel frame to which the toms, cymbals and module can be attached. It is extremely stable yet flexible; it allows for both spacious and more compact set-up options, so you can adapt the kit to your ideal playing position. The kit has been designed to be compatible with standard drum hardware, so you can use the pedals you are used to. The hi-hat controller is compatible with any standard hi-hat stand; the kick drum can be fitted with any single or double kick pedal, and all cymbals can also be mounted on conventional cymbal stands (for optional additional cymbals). Module

The Prime Drum Module is undoubtedly the most technologically advanced drum module ever developed. The sound experience is based on the legendary BFD drum engine and is controlled via a 10.1-inch touchscreen, which enables intuitive navigation, editing and mixing of kits – as well as studio-quality sound previously only available on powerful desktop computers.

The touchscreen puts every parameter right at your fingertips, allowing you to effortlessly access and adjust every component of the kit, sounds, effects and auxiliary functions. There are also six rotary knobs for quick scrolling and detailed control, as well as a main push encoder, transport controls and dedicated volume controls for the main, headphone and aux outputs.

Under the bonnet is a powerful multi-core processor that loads massive, multi-sampled kits in seconds, giving you instant creative freedom to customise your kits, articulations, microphones and effects. The brand-new trigger engine is customisable. Although Strata Prime is superb to play straight out of the box, several tools are available to tailor the kit to your specific preferences, including instant crosstalk calibration.

Sounds

The multi-core processor powers the legendary BFD sound engine. It is a massive library of drum kits, impeccably sampled by top engineers in some of the world’s best drum recording studios. With over 40 GB of content, 75 kits, more than 440 kit parts, over 1,000 sound articulations and more than 215,000 individual samples, you can create your own mixes and apply effects to kit parts, groups and even individual microphones.

Strata Prime features 40 playable zones, and uniquely, multiple sounds can be assigned to each trigger zone in the kit: a main sound and then up to three additional ‘stacks’ per zone. You can layer multiple sounds on top of one another or create a mashup of completely different sound combinations – for example, add a woodblock and a cowbell to the rim of your snare.

In addition to the 75 factory kits, Strata Prime includes four sound libraries: ‘Alesis Prime Acoustic’; a huge collection of drum sounds recorded at Powerstation Studios in New England; ‘BFD Dark Farm’; a purely acoustic, metal-oriented expansion pack from the BFD team; ‘Alesis Prime Electronic’; the best of the electronic one-shot drum sounds from the Alesis Strike Multipad, ideal for layering over acoustic drum samples; and ‘BFD Percussion’; a diverse collection of percussion sounds from BFD’s classic percussion packs.
