Titanium-coated PEN drivers

The sound reproduction of the H715 Reference is delivered by specially developed, titanium-coated 150-ohm PEN drivers. Inside the driver unit, particularly powerful neodymium magnets, a precisely tuned suspension system and a patent-pending ventilation system are utilised.

The drivers are arranged at an angle and sit behind an air-permeable, woven steel grille, which contributes significantly to the transparency and openness of the soundstage. The position of the drivers’ sound outlet has been carefully optimised and is surrounded by a high-density acoustic material that effectively dampens unwanted resonance peaks.

Ergonomic design

An essential component of any headphone design is the mechanical construction, which has a significant influence on both wearing comfort and durability. In this respect, the H715 Reference impresses with a spring steel headband that ensures a secure fit regardless of head shape and size. The headband padding features a central recess that reduces pressure on the sensitive crown of the head.

At the same time, the exceptionally soft memory foam ear pads mould perfectly to the shape of the head around the ears, ensuring a high level of comfort even during long listening sessions. The headband is connected to the ear cups via precision-machined aluminium forks. The ear cups can be folded flat, allowing the H715 Reference to be transported safely together with the hard-shell case supplied.

Software Expertise[RC1.1][MC1.2]

ADAM Audio has further expanded its collaboration with the software experts at Sonnox and enhanced the Headphone Utility plug-in. It offers precise calibration options for ADAM Audio headphones, including a customisable crossfeed function. This allows speaker mixes to be transferred more reliably to headphone monitoring.

In addition, the H715 Reference comes bundled with the ListenHub app for macOS. This virtual monitoring centre allows you to integrate reference tracks directly from streaming platforms, balance volumes, and check mono signals, side components and stereo balance. The Headphone Utility plug-in can also be integrated directly into the ListenHub app, enabling system-wide and source-independent calibration.

Hi-Fi Mode

For those who wish to experience music without compromise, the H715 Reference can be connected to a balanced headphone amplifier output via the additional 3-metre cable with cable routing on both sides. This cable is fitted with a 4.4 mm Pentaconn plug (5-pin). Hi-Fi mode is activated by operating the recessed switch on the inside of the left ear cup using the metal pin supplied. This disconnects the common ground connection between the left and right ear cups. This allows the cable, which is connected at both ends, to transmit a balanced audio signal provided by the phase-inverted signals of a differential amplifier. Pressing the switch again restores the common ground connection. The standard cable with single-sided routing can then be used as normal.

Modular design

When developing headphones, ADAM Audio takes into account that certain components will need to be replaced over time due to normal use. In particular, the headband and ear pads are subjected to high stresses during their service life and are subject to natural wear and tear. Cables may also show signs of wear over time, and individual components may be damaged by improper storage or transport. The H715 Reference has therefore been consistently designed for long-term use. This is facilitated by the dual-sided cable connection with replaceable cables, interchangeable ear pads and headband pads, as well as the high-quality hard-shell carrying case. This ensures that the headphones can be easily maintained when necessary and used reliably for many years to come.
