Yamaha EAD10 Electronic Acoustic Drum Module

The sensor unit:

The sensor unit of the EAD10 system relies on a specially developed X/Y stereo sensor pickup method, supplemented by trigger sensors, and ensures a balanced recording of the entire kit exclusively by placing the sensor unit in the centre of the drum set.

The microphone capsule used is a new development with high sound pressure resistance and extremely low self-noise, which has been specially optimised for picking up drums. The entire sensor unit, including the protective grille of the microphone capsule, has a unique acoustic design that allows both the directional characteristic and the frequency response to be adjusted. The preamplifier, designed on the basis of selected components, ultimately helps the microphone to get the best out of the dynamic potential of a drum set. The tonally balanced result with its clear and dynamic sound is virtually predestined for recording applications.

In addition, the tonal range can be significantly expanded by using the trigger sensor in combination with the PCM sounds that complement the bass drum. The EAD10 system combines ease of use with high quality technology that only a manufacturer with extensive experience in instrument making and microphone technology can provide.

The main unit:

The main unit of the EAD10 has been designed with ease of use in mind.

On the left-hand side, the device has large buttons that make it easy to operate main functions such as volume control and preset scene control, even during a performance. Integrated LED indicators also ensure that scene-related controllable parameters such as reverb, effect and trigger are clearly visible at all times. This makes it possible to see the current settings and make intuitive adjustments, even in poor stage lighting. Combined with the advantages of the integrated LED display, the buttons on the right-hand side allow detailed adjustments to be made in any situation.

In addition, the EAD10 module has a specially developed high-quality headphone amplifier, which can also cope with the dynamics of an acoustic drum kit in terms of performance. The module also provides numerous high-quality effects and PCM sounds from Yamaha's electronic instrumental portfolio, which can be used to transform acoustic drum kits into a completely different instrument.
