Drummers are not to be envied: Acoustic sets are not at all suitable for playing at night and electric drums are far quieter, but the pedals transmit impact sound that could not be absorbed until now. That's why Roland is introducing the FD-9 hi-hat pedal, an extremely quiet solution. It has been specially developed for home use and is equipped with a patented mechanism that absorbs most of the operating noise. Nevertheless, this hihat pedal can be played with astonishing expressiveness and still allows for sophisticated open/closed/half-open variations. With the Roland FD-9 you can finally let off steam at any time of day or night.
Even those who practise with headphones know that the hi-hat pedal produces mechanical noises that the environment can only tolerate to a certain extent. The FD-9 controller has a newly developed mechanism* that drastically reduces operating noise (50%** quieter in the room itself and 15%** less noise on the floor below, compared to an FD-8 hihat controller).
